For over two decades, INERELA+ Kenya has been at the forefront of HIV and TB advocacy — working to eliminate stigma, discrimination and misinformation while promoting prevention, treatment and care. Through our network of religious leaders, we challenge harmful myths and encourage open dialogue within congregations. Our advocacy emphasizes safer practices, access to treatment and nutrition, voluntary counselling and testing, and we engage policymakers and county leadership to turn commitments into meaningful action.
Strong communities require informed and empowered leaders. We invest in religious leaders, youth advocates, women leaders and community champions through training workshops, dialogue forums, mentorship and theological reflection sessions — strengthening skills in HIV prevention, gender equality, child protection, human rights, leadership and community mobilization. Thousands of leaders from diverse faith traditions have been equipped to spread life-saving information and support vulnerable populations.
We increase uptake of HIV testing and treatment by leveraging the trust and influence of faith communities. Through partnerships with health facilities, county governments and development partners, we run awareness campaigns, community mobilization and referral programmes that encourage people to know their status and seek timely care. Special attention is given to underserved groups, promoting early diagnosis, linkage to care, treatment adherence and stigma-free access to healthcare.
Ending gender inequality and violence requires the active involvement of men and boys. Through our Male Engagement Programme, we work with male religious leaders, elders, youth and traditional leaders to promote positive masculinity and gender-transformative attitudes — encouraging men to become advocates for equality, champions against violence and role models in their families. Community dialogues, mentorship and awareness campaigns help participants question harmful norms and embrace respectful, equitable relationships.
We protect the rights and dignity of vulnerable populations — women, children, widows, people living with HIV and marginalized communities. We train religious leaders and community representatives on human rights, family law, land and property rights, child protection and anti-discrimination laws. Through partnerships with legal professionals we provide legal education, legal aid and alternative dispute resolution that help communities resolve conflicts peacefully and access justice.
We mobilize faith communities to break the silence on gender-based violence and champion gender justice. Working with religious leaders, women and youth, we challenge harmful norms, raise awareness in congregations and support survivors with dignity. Through trainings, sermon and khutba guides, community dialogues and partnerships with county GBV units, we help build communities where every person is safe, valued and treated equally.
