Faith Leaders Championing Gender Justice and GBV Prevention
Through training, community dialogue and survivor support, INERELA+ Kenya works with religious and community leaders to prevent gender-based violence and strengthen protection systems for women and children.
Gender-based violence remains one of the most urgent challenges facing communities across Kenya. INERELA+ Kenya believes faith leaders have a unique moral authority to break the silence, challenge harmful norms and stand with survivors.
Breaking the silence
Through sermons, khutba guides and community dialogues, leaders are speaking openly about GBV from the pulpit — naming it as a violation of human dignity and faith values. These conversations are shifting attitudes in the spaces where they matter most.
Supporting survivors
In partnership with county GBV units, including the Nairobi City County Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Unit, INERELA+ Kenya helps connect survivors to medical, legal and psychosocial support — ensuring no one walks the journey alone.
Engaging men and boys
True prevention requires the active involvement of men. Through the Male Engagement programme, male leaders and youth are challenged to model positive masculinity and become champions for equality in their homes and communities.
Together, faith communities are building a Kenya where every person is safe, valued and treated with dignity.
