Training Teachers to Champion Gender Justice in Schools
Schools are where ideas about gender, respect and fairness first take root. Through its gender justice programme, INERELA+ Kenya works alongside teachers to build safe, inclusive learning environments where every child — girl or boy — is valued, protected and given an equal chance to thrive.
Why teachers
Teachers are among the most trusted adults in a child’s life. Their words and example shape how young people understand relationships, consent and equality. By equipping educators with knowledge and confidence, we extend the reach of gender justice far beyond a single classroom.
What the training covers
Sessions help teachers recognise and respond to gender-based violence, understand their child protection and safeguarding responsibilities, challenge harmful stereotypes in the classroom, and guide affected learners to medical, legal and psychosocial support through established referral pathways.
The ripple effect
An empowered teacher influences hundreds of learners every year. As more schools embrace these values, communities move closer to a Kenya where dignity, safety and equality are the norm — in the classroom and beyond.
